ECHO/OHCE

The OHCE collection is a series of animated artworks that are created from a global community of people. The work explores the idea that machines could teach us to be better humans by allowing us to step into the shoes of another using immersive interactive tech. The initial project, ECHO, travelled the globe collecting the stories and portraits of over 40,000 people and winning awards at Sheffield Doc Fest and Ars Electronica for its ability to elicit empathy. As you entered a photo-booth to view a video story it slowly became you, seeing yourself echoed in another and feeling connected emotionally to the storyteller.

After Covid hit Georgie returned to Australia and created this series from her extensive cross cultural archive. Until now the pieces have only been shown as a projection mapped sculpture, a 7 meter geometric face that talks to the audience at Festivals and events.
